Pregnancy Brain and 37 Weeks

I was under the impression "pregnancy brain" was a myth.  Something women say to get out of doing dumb things.  Well let me tell ya-- it's real.  I consider myself an intelligent individual.  I have my moments here and there but don't we all?
Pregnancy brain moments-
Thinking 147 subtract 121 was somehow around 40.  (I was trying to calculate my weight gain in my head and started freaking out.)
An hour after my lovely mental math demonstration I was at the gas station, driving away when I realized the cap wasn't on the gas tank.  To my surprise, the knob hadn't rolled off the top of the car.  Good knob.  Bad Hilary.
I will no longer diss those that claim pregnancy brain-mommy brain-you name it brain.

Onto the fun stuff!  Baby bump photo!
Another classic.
Oh you want another snazzy update?  Well okay. :)

How far along? 37 weeks (plus 1 day)
Total weight gain: 19 pounds (after initial loss of 7 pounds: 26 pounds)
Maternity clothes? Of course!  I’ll admit I am excited for the prospects of wearing some of my normal summer tops after this little man makes his appearance.  Rotating through the same several shirts every week is not my norm.
Belly stretch marks? Still haven’t appeared but I’ve heard they can appear out of nowhere! So I keep checking.
Sleep: Still not too shabby.  Waking up more due to my squished bladder but I figure it’s just good practice for when I’m waking up with baby.
Best moment this week: Sean and I rented Just Dance 2014 for FHE on Monday.  It was pretty fun and entertaining— Sean’s got moves and he was super stoked when he saw the German version of 99 Red Balloons on there.
Miss Anything? Lately I’ve just missed being able to get out and really exercise.  Maybe it’s because the weather is nicer and this is when all the closet workouters make their appearance but yeah.  I wish I was capable of more than a walk.
Movement: Little man was born to be a boxer.  Loves to inform mama dear of his presence.
Food cravings: Naw.  I find myself being too thirsty for my own good… especially around bedtime.  No bueno.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anymore, thank goodness.  I paid my dues during my first trimester.
Gender: Boy
Baby Names: You and I both know that you don’t get to know till he’s out… But you DO get to know that I asked baby if he was okay with his name and he said yes.. through the form of a nice kick. :)
Fruit Size: Leek— What the heck is that?  Weight wise he’s supposed to be the size of a small watermelon.  (Much cuter than a leek.)
Labor Signs:  Just normal end of pregnancy things that let me know my body is prepping for this big event.  BH contractions, slight cervix dilation and effacement.  All that good stuff.
Symptoms: Other than being big and pregnant?  Fatigue and expanding hips.
Belly Button in or out? It hasn’t stretched out onto my belly like I hear can happen but it’s not “in”.
Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy.  I’ve been trying to keep a really positive attitude toward the end.  One of my sisters told me that you just have to accept the fact you’re going to be miserable the last month and move on.  So I am (unless I’m stuck on the couch and Sean isn’t around the help me up and I really have to go to the bathroom).  That advice has really helped. I know my body is putting me through this so it can prepare for labor and delivery.  And guess what happens after that??  I get to see my little man. The mind is a powerful thing.  Might as well make that power positive.
Looking forward to: Sean finishing the semester and Easter Sunday.  The part of my family residing in Utah is getting together to eat dinner together and I’m stoked.

  1. WOW, I loved reading this. I was laughing at the pregnancy brain part. The other day calculated that 5 x 40 was 90 or something like that...it took a long time for Ricky to explain the math haha. And the peeing! It's crazy, and I drink like a camel too. Just cool to read it in someone else's terms, thanks for the post!-this is Taylor by the way, not Ricky, cause he is a boy..
